Fashion month is upon us so get ready for street style snaps, frow sightings, back stage Snapchats and model selfies. Kicking off in New York, we’re rounding up the best shows, beauty looks and street style sightings at NYFW SS17.
Fashion
Fashion first, let us begin with Victoria Beckham. The silhouettes for this latest collection have loosened up to create a more slouchy look to suit women of all shapes and sizes. According to Beckham speaking to Vogue it’s about softening up this season making clothes look effortless as if they have just been thrown on.
Moving on to another of our top picks – Opening Ceremony. This show was presented as a comedy act pageant as a way to encourage people to vote in the upcoming election. Fashion meets politics at New York Fashion Week!
Diane Von Furstenberg’s recent takeover by British designer Jonathan Saunders was one of the more hotly anticipated shows. With only a few months into the job Saunders’ influence was very clear with a minimal vibe whilst maintaining the femininity and vibrancy of the brand.
Beauty
The beauty looks presented themselves in a contemporary, sleek and elegant way.
Green and blue slashes of eye shimmer were seen at Victoria Beckham, with make up artist Pat Mcgrathreal calling it the ‘modern wing’.
It was a youthful, groomed beauty look on show at Oscar de la Renta with natural brows and an all-round healthy and fresh feel.
Proenza Schouler offered minimal makeup and a yellow ear here and there…because it’s New York fashion week so why not?!
Alexander Wang portrayed beachy waves and sunkissed skin
Frank Rizzieri at Tibi styled models’ hair in low ponytails, fastened with hair ties particularly chosen to complement the clothes they were sporting on the catwalk.
Snapchat filters were a part of the beauty trend at Desigual’s show. From butterflies in the hair, flower power headdresses, cute dog noses and bumble bee facial markings, all you had to do is look out for your favourite filter!
House of Herrerea saw architectural hair to empower women.
Tom Ford offered slick sophisticatd hair pulled back into a low elegant knotted bun with side part.
